Questions

Good to know.

What does an occupational therapist do at home?

An occupational therapist (OT) helps you keep doing the everyday things that matter, like showering, cooking, getting around and staying connected. At home we look at you, your routines and your space, then recommend practical changes, equipment or smart home tech that make daily life safer and easier.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book privately without a referral. Care partners, GPs and specialists are also welcome to refer.

Can I use Support at Home funding?

Yes. We work with Support at Home participants and their care partners, including assistive technology and home modification (AT-HM) assessments and prescriptions. Private appointments and other funding are welcome too.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth OT is available Australia-wide, with a family member, care partner or support worker beside you as our eyes and hands. Home visits are available on Sydney's Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore.

Can you help with memory changes, dementia or Parkinson's?

Yes. We offer practical strategies, routines and smart home tech for people noticing changes in memory or thinking, and for people living with dementia, Parkinson's and other neurological conditions, plus support for the families who care for them.

What smart home tech can help someone stay at home for longer?

It depends on the person, but common options include falls alerts and personal alarms, check-in sensors with nothing to wear, reminder clocks, medication reminders, smart lighting, voice assistants and simple video calling. An OT helps you choose what actually fits.
